Note: Don’t forget to pick up a generic pop filter & wind sock. Any male-female XLR from a reputable brand (i.e. Yorkville) should be fine. Just make sure you don’t buy a 20-foot cable for your desk space (too long). Any of the field recorders you buy will also require AA batteries & an SD card (if they don’t come bundled with one). You may also want to pick up a microphone stand if you don’t want to hold your mic while delivering your voiceover.

Editing
I use Adobe Audition every single day (almost every single hour). It’s an extension of my brain at this point. It costs $30 per month for a cloud license. I also use Hindenburg, which costs $125 for a lifetime license for their basic editor.
Planning
Time Tracking
I love tracking my time spent on projects with Toggl (it’s free!).
Graphic Design
I use Canva to create simple logos and social media assets. It’s free.
